They are the hallmark of Campo de Criptana that inspired Miguel de Cervantes to write chapter VII of the first part of Don Quixote.

Criptana had 34 windmills, today there are 10 'giants' that have been restored. The mills 'Sardinero', 'Infante' and 'Burleta' were declared Sites of Cultural Interest in 1978.
